I am board certified in Internal Medicine and was among the first group of physicians to obtain certification in Geriatrics as a specialty.  I am a graduate of Vassar College with B.A. and M.A. Degrees and received my Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.  My internship and residency were completed at the UCLA-San Fernando Valley Program and included training on the Geriatrics and Geropsychiatry Units at the Sepulveda, California  and Brentwood, California Veterans Administration Hospitals.  I have served as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and as Volunteer Faculty for the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

I have practiced Geriatrics and Internal Medicine in the Greater Kansas City area for over 30 years, most recently in a private practice exclusively for seniors.  I also have many years of experience as the medical director and practitioner in senior health clinics.  Throughout my career, I have maintained an active nursing home practice and served as a Nursing Home Medical Consultant and as a Nursing Home Medical Director.

I helped to pioneer the return of house calls as an option for providing medical care to home-bound seniors.  My house call practice was featured as a practice model for physicians in the nationally distributed Medical Economics magazine.   It was also the cover story for The Kansas City Star Magazine in 2012.

I have over 20 years of experience as an expert medical witness in Geriatrics.  I specialize in medical malpractice cases involving patients 65 years and over in  nursing homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities involving dementia care, pressure ulcers, falls, burns, etc.  I take pride in providing honest, thorough, and timely opinions, reports , and testimonies.

My public speaking experiences include medical school grand rounds, keynote speeches, lectures, and workshops on topics in Geriatrics.  My audiences range from small lay social or religious groups to large medical professional groups.  My presentations have been described as being enthusiastic, animated, informative, and motivating.
